Start
your first day by planning your classes for your stay and sharing coffee
or tea with your hosts and teachers, Al and Josie Rodriguez. Then it's on
to the studio to begin your chosen class. Maybe you just bought a digital
camera and don't know what to do with itor you just want to improve
your pictures. Bring your camera and your questions. Perhaps you'll want
to explore the fascinating art of manipulated Polaroids or have fun with
pinhole cameras. If
you're interested in book arts, you could make your own paper or learn the
ancient and magical art of marbling paper, or the
no mistakes method of paste papers
to use in bookbinding projects.
After a light lunch and beverage, the afternoon class begins. When it's
finished, you're free to nap, write, read, walk, photograph, sketch, relax
in a porch hammock, or putter in our garden.
For dinner you can walk to the restaurants of Mission Hills or Hillcrest. Old Town, the San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park museums and Old Globe Theatre, Downtown San Diego, the Gaslamp Quarter, and world-class shopping malls are within a five-mile radius of the Art Retreat. Sea World and the beach cities of Mission Beach, Pacific Beach, La Jolla and Del Mar are all less than a twenty-minute drive away. For a detailed look at what the city has to offer on the
days you've chosen for your getaway, click here.
